Payment gateways and currencies
Updated by Raheel Shan
Switch gateways on in Settings -> Payment gateways. Each card shows the fields to fill and, where it applies, the webhook URL and events to add in that gateway's dashboard. Webhooks matter: without them an order is only delivered if the buyer comes back to your site after paying.
| Gateway | Good for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Safepay | Buyers in Pakistan (cards, bank accounts, wallets) | Only offered when your currency is PKR. Refunds are made in the Safepay dashboard. |
| Bank transfer | International buyers, large amounts | Buyer gets your bank details and a reference, can upload a receipt; you click Mark as paid. |
| Stripe | Cards worldwide | Needs a Stripe account in a supported country. Supports auto-renewing memberships. |
| PayPal | PayPal balance and cards | |
| 2Checkout (Verifone) | Cards worldwide, available to Pakistani businesses | Orders under review are delivered when approved. Supports auto-renewing memberships. |
Live mode: every card gateway has a Live mode switch. Leave it off while testing with the gateway's sandbox or test keys; switch it on with your live keys to take real payments. For Stripe the keys decide (sk_test_... or sk_live_...), so saving is refused when they don't match the switch.
Checkout notes: each gateway can show a short note at checkout (for example "For customers in Pakistan"). If you leave it empty a sensible default is used.
Coupons (Marketing -> Coupons)
Percentage or fixed-amount codes, with an optional use limit and expiry. They apply to products (not donations). A 100% coupon completes the order without any gateway, which is handy for giving access to a reviewer.
Currencies
- Primary currency (Settings -> Currencies & timezones): what everyone pays in. Past orders keep the currency they were paid in.
- Currencies for visitors: extra currencies (with your rate, or fetched rates) that visitors see prices in automatically, picked from where they are (their device timezone); anywhere else sees the primary currency. Display only: everyone is charged in the primary currency, and converted prices are marked as approximate.
Donations
Visitors can tip or donate at /support (the Donate button can be hidden in Settings -> Storefront, where you also set the suggested amounts). Donations appear in Sales under Donations.
Abandoned checkouts
When someone reaches Stripe, PayPal, Safepay or 2Checkout and doesn't pay, they get one reminder email (see Marketing).
