Memberships

A membership opens every course, workshop, book and download on the site for as long as it is active, including everything you add later. Bootcamps, meetings and licensed software are sold separately.

Plans (Catalog -> Membership plans)

Create one or more plans:

Plans can be switched off (no new sales) without affecting people who already hold them. A plan someone holds can't be deleted.

Put /membership in your menu (Appearance -> Menu): it shows the plans, what's included, and the checkout.

How members use it

• Product pages show Included in your membership with a Start / Download button.
• Their account has a Membership tab: plan, end date, and Renew.
• They can still buy a product outright to keep it forever.

Paying and renewing

Memberships work with every payment method, including Safepay and bank transfer:

• Paying again adds a period on top of the current end date, so renewing early loses nothing.
• Members are emailed 7 days and 1 day before the end, with a Renew link.
• When it ends, access locks, but their progress and notes are kept; renewing opens everything again.
• Refunding a membership payment ends the membership.

Automatic renewal (cards)

When paying by Stripe or 2Checkout, buyers can tick Renew automatically (not for Lifetime plans, and not together with a coupon). The gateway charges each month or year by itself; each renewal is recorded as a sale with an invoice. Members can turn it off from their account and keep access until the end of what they paid for.

• For Stripe, add the invoice.paid and customer.subscription.deleted events to your Stripe webhook.
• Test a 2Checkout auto-renewal in sandbox before selling it.
• An auto-renewing membership stays open for 24 hours past its end in case the renewal notice is late; System health warns if a renewal never arrives.

Members (Sales -> Members)

Everyone with a membership, filterable by active / ended, with:

• Extend: add one period free (goodwill, or a payment taken outside the site);
• End now: stop access immediately (nothing is refunded; refund in Sales if needed).
